Established in 2017, MUSICA is an un-auditioned community choir for women, With a mission to connect women through song and a passion for making great choral music. We sing everything from pop to music theatre, jazz to gospel, Bowie to Berlioz.
In our inaugural year, MUSICA performed at Federation Square and the Melbourne Recital Centre as part of the Melbourne International Singer's Festival, at the launch of the Allison Baden-Clay Foundation's Kindness Day (televised on all major channels), on ABC Brisbane radio's Sunday Morning with Rebecca Levingstone and with John Farnham, Katie Noonan, Kate Cebrano and Isaiah as part of the Queensland Music Festival'sYou're the Voice' project. MUSICA has also workshopped with Dr Kirby Shaw, internationally renowned choral composer and arranger, and Simon Kenway, Australian Opera. In 2018, MUSICA returned to the Melbourne International Singer's Festival, participated in Brisbane Sings at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, won Pacific Fair's 'Sing to Win', and performed at Broadbeach Carols in the Park. In 2019, MUSICA was invited back to the Broadbeach Carols as featured performers and headlined their first major concert event 'Livin' in the 70s'. In 2020, MUSICA took to the internet to keep singing. In that year we met and sang with international artists, choirs, and conductors (Roger Emerson, Mark De Lisser, Beth Morgan, The Great Day Choir - Bath/Bristol), There was even a cook-a-long with an Aussie Masterchef (Callum Hann). In 2021, we are grateful to be back doing what we love in person... SINGING!!!
At the heart of everything we do is the desire to EMPOWER women to find and use their voices both musically and personaly. We value connection, community, courage and compassion. MUSICA is always looking for passionate new singers who share our vision and commitment to join our ranks. So, if you’re a gal and you love to sing, come and join us.
